Join

Joining is a 3 step process. Follow the steps below.

Complete Application

1) Complete an application with BSA:

Boys, age 11-18, 6th – 12th grade

Girls, age 11-18, 6th – 12th grade

BSA provides the software end of our program, plus provides group insurance and activity frameworks.

When creating an account, be careful to create an account for yourself first. When the account is created, use it to make an application for your child. Read instructions carefully. Spelling and upper/lower case matters.

Pack 261 meets at the same location Thursday nights at 6:30pm and is open to all youth grades K-5.

Pay Troop Dues

2) Pay your dues:

Troop Store

Dues cover awards and programming for all Scouts throughout the year.

3) Join our private Facebook page:

We organize on Facebook and disseminate up to the minute information here, including camping gate codes, itinerary changes due to weather, etc.

Why 2 payments?

Scouts BSA Troops are run like a restaurant franchise. There is a national organization, Scouts BSA, that you must apply to and pay a fee to at the start of your career. The money you give to Scouts BSA goes to pay for group insurance, background checks on your adult leader volunteers, meeting material content, online tracking tools we use to mark advancements each week, maintenance at BSA private campsites, and more.

Dues are different. Dues go to Troop 261. Money goes directly from your credit card and into our Troops bank account, right here in St Pete. 100% of it is consumed in support of our program and your Scout’s awards. Each patch, pin, slide, trophy, neckerchief, etc that your child earns is paid for through your dues.
